Frequently Asked Questions
Low-E stands for "low emissivity". Low-E windows contain glass that has been coated in invisible layers of metallic oxide. This coating allows natural light to enter the home while deflecting UV rays and infrared light back out into the environment. Why is this important?
UV rays are invisible rays of light emitted by the sun. UV rays are responsible for fading upholstery, burning skin and, over the course of many years, damaging building materials. Infrared light is heat that warms your home during the winter. By deflecting both types of light back out into the environment, low-E coatings help keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer.

No, not anymore! While Reliable Glass was formerly known as Star Glass and did offer vehicle glass replacement in the past, we’ve since narrowed our focus and bolstered resources to enhance our glazing division. We currently specialize in home and business glass, tinting, mirrors, showers and custom glass projects.Â
There are two main types of glass used in the construction of windows: annealed glass and tempered glass. This type of glass is commonly used throughout homes and is probably what most of your windows are made of. Arizona homes can be single or double pane glass, but double pane is more energy efficient and can help with heat regulation.Â
In most cases, yes! We can even reglaze certain styles of high-quality replacement windows like Andersen or Pella to save you money. Either way we have you covered as complete window changeouts are no problem for our glazing specialists.Â
Some homeowners use window tint to save money, but only Low-E glass blocks heat, UV rays, and infrared light. Depending on your project budget, for better insulation and lower energy bills, Low-E windows are a smart investment. Reliable Glass installs both Low-E glass and window film to improve comfort and curb appeal.
